Tolman has received praises for her performance as the part of Minnesota Police Officer Molly Solverson. Vanity Fair declared that Tolman has "calmly certainly stole the entire production". Tolman received a Critics' Choice Television Award for her performance in the category Best Supporting Actress, Movies/Miniseries. Additionally, her nominations for Best Actress were received at the Emmy Awards as well as the Golden Globes.
